DESCRIPTION:
It has been a year since the beginning of the pandemic and the turmoil and uncertainty it has spawned. As humans, we are creatures of habit, and we experience fear and stress when the circumstances of our lives are so uncertain, and we feel a loss of control. Amidst challenging times, what is the ground for our suffering? How can we find spaciousness and freedom even when life seems so uncertain and difficult? Using the wisdom practices of Vipassana and Pure Awareness and our heart-centered Brahma Vihara Meditations, we have the tools needed to navigate the bumpy road ahead. Can we take a deep breath of gratitude for all the light and love in the universe which is being offered to us?
Each year we hold a week-long retreat for “old (continuing) students” on Emerald Isle, NC. Due to the pandemic, this year’s retreat will be online. That means we will be able to accommodate 30 full-time yogis, welcoming anyone who has previously attended either two silent weekend meditation retreats or a week-long retreat. All full-time attendees must have previous experience in Vipassana and Pure Awareness Meditation and have received in-depth instruction in these practices from a teacher. As much as is possible, everyone is encouraged to observe noble silence.
In addition to the full-time participants, who will be meeting in groups to discuss what they are experiencing in their meditation and to actively participate in question and discussion periods, we are also inviting others who would like to join us as part-time yogis. Part-timers will be able to listen live to the instructions, discussions, and dharma talks and meditate with the group but not be permitted to ask questions or participate in the small-group meetings.
The schedule will allow as full participation as possible for those from Europe and throughout the U.S. and Canada. We hope you will be able to join us for this virtual Emerald Isle Retreat!
